Technology Consulting for Good

Sustainable, High Impact Cyber Solutions

We provide pro bono technology consulting to small organizations with a philanthropic focus. Our goal is to help our partners identify and implement technology solutions to deliver the highest impact services with the least disruption possible.

Our clients typically have limited resources and wear many hats. As such, we aim to provide recommendations and solutions that are as straightforward and precise as possible. We focus on ethical, easy-to-maintain approaches.

No matter your degree of familiarity with technology, we will work together to find a solution that fits your organization.

Our Services

Product Evaluation

Based on a prepared list of criteria and some practical experimentation, we can evaluate various software options or combinations to see which is the best fit for your needs. The goal is to minimize overhead, complexity, and effort in the long run.

Website Development

A well-designed website allows visitors to connect with and understand your services anywhere and anytime. It's also an opportunity to engage potential customers, donors, etc. We can help plan and develop a user-friendly website tailored to your needs, or you can follow our guide to do it yourself!

Information Security

Organizations often collect, process, transmit, and store more sensitive information than they realize. Many groups do not have the financial flexibility to invest in the technology and expertise needed for this space, as well. We can help identify risk and recommend ways to improve your security.

Planning

If you would like assistance building your long-term IT or security approach, we are happy to consult on anything from a six-month to five-year strategy. This can include budget approximations and growth targets, as well as thinking outside the box on how best to deliver your own services.

Compliance

Compliance is often mandated by a government organization or a customer's contract, depending on the area of business in which you operate. While we do not offer audits or certifications, we can help you identify which regulations may apply to you.

Presentations & Publications

We offer free presentations and publications on a variety of topics, from information security for older adults, cyber safety for kids, and more! Check out our Resources section or reach out directly for more information.

Our Clients

We generally support small initiatives with a philanthropic focus. These groups typically have two to 20 employees or volunteers with no dedicated IT support. Our partnerships range from low-income youth engagement programs to mental health research institutes, and we have worked with teachers, coaches, psychologists, social workers, professors, librarians, law enforcement personnel, and more. We also help new or small philanthropic foundations develop their virtual presence.

Our Team

We are a group of techies with decades of experience implementing IT and security solutions in the private sector. Our goal is to bring this experience to Elle Technology to help close the digital divide and do some good.

All of our services are free and on a volunteer basis, so we do our best to prioritize requests that have the greatest needs. We do not actively fundraise, although we welcome small donations which go directly to administrative overhead or to support our partners (e.g., buy their domain name).

Laura is an information security professional who builds and manages security programs for Fortune 500 companies spanning technology, manufacturing, financial, and retail, as well as with the US Federal Government and international partners.

She created Elle Technology after years of ad hoc, volunteer consulting demonstrated an ongoing gap in support in this area, compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic drastically increasing reliance on virtual services.

Laura is passionate about mental health, humane technology, and citizen science. She writes children’s books on cyber safety and is trying to visit every national park and at least one comic con a year.
